Andrus Legacy Society
Overview
Honoring the work of AARP founder Dr. Ethel Percy Andrus, the Andrus Legacy Society recognizes individuals who name AARP Foundation as a beneficiary in their will or estate plan, or who make an irrevocable life-income gift. These gifts perpetuate AARP's legacy of caring and allow us to carry out our commitment to enhancing the quality of life for all as we age.
How to Join
The following types of gifts qualify you for the Andrus Legacy Society:
- a bequest in your will or revocable trust;
- a life-income gift that names AARP Foundation as a remainder beneficiary, such as a charitable remainder trust, a charitable gift annuity;
- a charitable lead trust that provides income to AARP Foundation for a donor's lifetime or a term of years;
- qualified retirement plan assets, such as an IRA, 401(k) or 403(b);
- a life insurance policy that is fully paid-up or that names AARP Foundation as a beneficiary.
If you have already included AARP Foundation in a bequest or other planned gift, we hope you will let us know by completing the Andrus Legacy Society enrollment form. Your willingness to be listed as a member of Andrus Legacy Society encourages others to follow your example. We acknowledge and respect those who wish to remain anonymous, but we urge you to let us know of your plans on a confidential basis. If you have not yet included AARP Foundation in your plans and you would like to explore the best options for you and your family, do not hesitate to contact the Gift Planning Team. We would be glad to provide a confidential forum to discuss your options without any obligation.
Benefits of Enrollment
As part of the Andrus Legacy Society, you will receive:
- regular updates on AARP Foundation's programs and the impact they are having in the lives of vulnerable seniors;
- invitations to special events and educational opportunities;
- the satisfaction of knowing you are helping people 50-plus secure their essentials and achieve their best life;
